Burlington West: In response to Hunter Holmes shots of Geeps on the Chatham sub on 438/9 - the Oakville sub is now the domain of the Geeps since 434/5 have been re-routed around downtown Toronto. Witness CN 554, now hauling loaded autoracks from Aldershot to Oakville on a daily basis, along with the Petrocan, Clarkson and other locals, the freight traffic on the Oakville sub remains healthy and the domain almost exclusively of the Geeps. Today's 554 has a pair of consecutive numbered units too, 4701 and 4700.

For the Burlington West regulars (and you know who you are!) on this day the usual parking spot for cars was very busy with trucks - it appears Sun and Hercules trucks now use the old station grounds as a driveway. After years of railfans being fairly welcomed at this location, station or not, it has quickly turned into a bit of sour grapes. Feel free to share your observations in the comments...

  1. Actually 434 never ran via downtown and 435 was not rerouted at all. 435 ran via downtown so it could set off Oakville traffic. It was always planned to have 435 go via the Halton Sub, but they had to construct a new track in Aldershot Yard to accomodate 435′s traffic.

  2. Thanks Phil.

  3. You are most welcome. I will look for you railfanning when i am on a train out that way :-)

  4. I’m not one to be found loitering trackside Phil :) especially at burlington west, all grown in now.

  5. Yea I know its not like the old days when the station was still there :-(
