Keeping dry and out of a minor summer rain by standing under the canopy of the old Bridgeburg flat roof passenger station at Fort Erie provided a not too common angle for catching a late afternoon Conrail transfer. It is seen heading Stateside, CR 9379, 7938, 7936 and 7524 with a rather long train have just passed under the Central Av bridge. On the extreme left is the old CN crew hostel, now gone, as is the water tower, a lot of the track, and the station. Bridgeburg was the name of the community that sprung up at the International Bridge rail crossing, it was annexed by Fort Erie many years ago.

  1. Fort Erie was quite the place back then! Like you said, its amazing that more railfans didn’t frequent there.

  2. Most couldn’t get the car past Bayview back then. If railfans are flies, it was the light on the porch. Pretty much everything about the Niagara Region foamwise was interesting or better back before the great retrenchment of the late 80′s and into the 90′s.

  3. That’s very nice to see the Conrail!

  4. SW1500 leader – I bet the crew loved that!
