Trains 246 heads down the Niagara Escarpment into Hamilton on a crisp October morning. With no work for Steelcare at Aberdeen the crew will head straight for Kinnear, a crew change and a lift before heading to Welland for more work.

  1. The mainline freights worked Aberdeen? Interesting.

  2. Yes, until a couple or three years ago.

246/7 would reverse into Aberdeen basically.. or go around the wye… or set off train in DES and go in/out..

You also missed the period of time when due to the TH&B agreement they changed crews at Kinnear (all trains through Hamilton). Trains would also park at the Cemetery (Desjardins) for recrew also.

This was eliminated by the Hunter era around 2015/6.

  3. Well, that’s a damn shame. All of those things would’ve made CP a little more interesting.

  4. Correct – there are some things that only the winds of time can change (for better or worse) and Glenn, myself, and a few others have seen these winds of change. You can’t change when you were born, really can you. The sooner one gets their shots however…!
