CN train 360, a Winnipeg to Chicago manifest freight, makes an unusual appearance in southern Ontario having detoured around the Great Lakes via Toronto. Today's power is an extra bonus with a pair of CSX GEVOs trailing the older CN cowl-body GE.

The detour has also introduced a peculiarity to the trackside watcher when running on the Toronto-Chicago portion of its re-route: since this Winnipeg-Chicago train is overall and normally an eastbound, it has an eastbound (even) number, but once it's reached Toronto, it's now running westward toward Chicago, thus running in the opposite direction of all of the other even-numbered eastbound trains on this portion of the route.

  1. Good info! I wondered about this train when I saw it just after 1pm passing through Burlington. John
