CN 50397 Industrial Brownhoist 250 ton wrecker, s/n 12368 built in 1957. It was originally assigned to the GTW in Battle Creek, MI. according to a July 1960 CN crane roster. It sits here in the cold snow covered Kamloops Yard in January of 2003 nearing the end of its useful life at CN.

  1. Any idea when this crane was scrapped?

  2. I’m not so sure the CN 50397 has been scrapped. We will have a guy out in the Kamloops area in the near future and will get him to do a little scouting to see what’s going on with the wreckers that were once assigned there.

  3. That would be great, I thought the only one left was 50387 at the Alberta Railway Museum.

  4. It would appear that CN 50397 (1st) in my above photo has been scrapped. :-(
    Ex-DM&IR X-16, an American model 830 DE locomotive crane, serial number J-3487, built in 1958 was renumbered to CN 50397 (2nd) and was on the Work Equipment roster until 2010. I have a photo of this second CN 50397 meeting its end in a scrap yard in October of 2010. :-(
