Caption: Summer's officially over as of tonight, and in the last rays of a late Summer sun, SOR 495, aka 1900 HAM yard switcher is at the far end of the "hole" - Parkdale Ave in Hamilton switching A&M metals. The Conductor (and RPCA member angelok) is walking up to the train after coupling cars to perform switching in the yard behind me. This is a place I have been to numerous times since 1998, first as an employee of a local metals recycler (summer job) later, as a railway and Hamilton enthusiast, these gritty dusty areas are what I like the most and where I spend a lot of my photography time. I'm a Hamilton fan, and the North End is where it's at.

Note the recent right of way work - a year ago this was weedy and rickety - A&M is expanding rapidly and it would appear as if they may lay a new spur is to be placed in the graded area at right - A&M is up to about 10 to 20 cars a day and now sports a red Trackmobile.

Bonus & History of the area: A photo looking the other way here but sadly, the engine in THAT photo was scrapped. See the smokestack at background? That's the old water treatment plant, which used to be served by this spur, now served off the Grimsby Sub once a month or so - the change was made when Burlington St was built and elevated in the late 60's or so.
