One of the problems with photography in the mountains in the Fall is that the sun takes a while to reach the tracks. It will still be some time before this scene is warmed by direct sunlight.
We were returning to Edmonton from the Alta-Mont railfan event in Essex with my brother from Halifax, and decided to take the long way home by going through Kicking Horse Pass. We caught this Sulphur train leaving Field. We did not linger, though. These trains were rather odoriferous.

  1. I can see the helpers. I wonder what it was like for the crew. Are those Procor or Sultran hoppers?

  2. The mid train helpers were remotely operated – no worries about someone breathing sulphur fumes.
    I was not observant enough to determine what rail cars were used. That being said, I do not recall seeing Procor cars in that era.
