DOWNGRADE AT BOWRING PARK - Brake shoe smoke envelopes the head end power of Terra Transport Extra 926 East on the hot and humid Sunday afternoon of July 19, 1987. With only a few miles left to go on it's 547 mile trans island journey, lead engine NF210 #926 and three sisters haul two CP rail boxcars and about twenty green inter-modal containers to it's final destination, the railyard in the capital city of St. John's. While travelling the 138 miles from Corner Brook to Bishops's Falls, a coach was added, thus making the former train known as #204, for that portion, Mixed Extra 926 East on the narrow gauge line.

  1. Classic. If only these trains still ran…

  2. It’s an absolute shame the rails were lifted across “The Rock”, should never have happened but seems it was the trend in the late 80′s across the country.

Great shot, another small piece of history captured.
