TTC H6 5859 pauses on the trailing end of an eastbound Bloor-Danforth line train, as passengers rush to disembark and board before the doors close and the train leaves for the busy Bloor-Yonge station (it's best to get a seat now if you can, before everyone packs in at the next stop).

While the older H4 and H5 cars from the 70's were going to be replaced by the new Bombardier Toronto Rocket subway cars, the mid-1980's UTDC/Can-Car H6 cars weren't originally going to be replaced and were expected to last a good decade or two more. That changed when an option for more TR cars was exercised by the TTC. Then it was announced 255 H5 and H6 cars were to be sold to EKO Rail for refurbishing and use on a new light-rail line in Lagos, Nigeria. That plan was later cut down to only H5's, and nixed altogether when new equipment from China was purchased for the line.

As a result, when the last H6 retired in June 2014, they were all being trucked off for scrapping.
