It was tough to catch these electrics on the job. Not only did they really move, the roads did not go where they did, and a shot or two was best one could expect without being 'trapped' on private property. INCO 123 and 126, captured here heading westbound, were 85 Tonners, built 1942 and 1950 respectively; originally were Kennecott Copper 62 and 63. They were both retired and stored in Sudbury along with the rest of the electric fleet when the company 'upgraded' to diesel GP38s around 2001. I would have thought electric would have been cheaper to run, but these motors were getting rather on in years. Since this photo was taken, the company has changed from INCO to CVRD Inco, and now Vale Inco. I still prefer the old name, International Nickel.
