"Back in the day", much of Montreal's industry was located along the banks of the Lachine Canal and served by both the railway and the Canal. CN had a spur on the west side which ran in both directions from the Montreal sub main line as well as a small support yard just west of St. Ambroise street. (CP had a similar spur on the other side.) On a hazy summer evening, we encounter an old friend coming off the Canal Bank spur--CN S4 8170 which was based in Hamilton for many years. Alas, she will be retired within a year or so.
