Up to this point, I had seen other rp.ca contributors photos of the newly wrapped Canada 150 engines. And, having now seen one 'up close and personal'...it is only slightly silencing my negative thoughts of the 'modern design' of these wraps. Call me old fashioned, but I would have voted for a more traditional tribute to Canada's 150th - and that would be "Heritage Engines", following in the footsteps of Amtrak.

However, this was still my surprise of this Sunday afternoon was seeing VIA 908 leading train 76 departing from it's station stop at Chatham.

  1. No matter what you do, you just can’t dress up a Mud Missile….boy that’s a sad sight there in the ol’ Maple City, westbound main ripped out, yard empty, NS long gone, CSX long gone. Tisk tisk…

  2. Having the old baggage car in the background is cool.

  3. I do like the look of these head on…like nose only haha

  4. @ Joseph Bishop – I know right? This same design used on the F40′s seem to be better in appearance than on these P42 “mud missiles” :)

@ Extra 1014 – yeah, I forgot to mention the old CN baggage car. It is (or was?) the Chatham Railway Museum.

@mercer – absolutely loving your photos, especially seeing how things used ot be here in the ol’ Maple City. First shots I got of the VIA station was only a mere 13.5 years ago…and I think the sidings were still in, same with the westbound main too. The old shed was a night club of some sort. Yes – in complete agreement with you….sad state here with the NS, CSX gone. CSX station too. I have heard that CN does still service Blenheim once in awhile, by using the southern portion of the line – still hold true?
