Now this is a beautiful restoration. The old Amherstburg station was never really part of the CASO per se, but back in the day the Michigan Central leased CASO trackage and ran a line into Amherstburg. Thus the structure was opened in 1891 as a MCRR depot. It was operational until 1969. The Fort Malden (nearby historical site) Guild of Arts and Crafts saw great potential for the old building. And so did a Mrs. J.R.Gibson, who in turn procured the structure and donated it to the group; and the art gallery within is known as the Gibson Gallery. It features, among other things, the Art Gallery of Windsor collection, and has an old waiting room window that delights visitors in the way sunlight reflects thru stained glass at certain times of the day. On the far side is a former Essex Terminal caboose that houses local artifacts as a railroad museum. Track is long gone, but the station still sits in exactly where it was constructed, on Richmond St at Seymour.
