VIA AT FALLOWFIELD. While fulfilling a promise to my Father-in-Law Johnny (see ID 27380), it gave this Newfoundland & Labrador railfan a chance to capture some VIA Rail action. Due to the December 2013 North American storm complex, rail and highway traffic was disrupted and as a result, VIA Rail Train 51 was well past its 08:45 departure time from Fallowfield. Due to the delay caused by the ice storm, I was able to witness, along with Johnny and my youngest son Thomas who would later accompany us to Montreal on VIA Rail # 32, a full passenger train led by P42DC 907 en route to Toronto. Rail scenes like these, not witnessed on the Rock since 1988, certainly added to that special Christmas in our Nations's Capital.
