After arriving in town the previous night from London under the cover of darkness, brand-new shiny right out of the box CP SD40-2's 5953-5952 along with an unidentified M-636 stretch their legs as the blast No 904 through the Powell Sidings and out of Windsor into the flatlands of Essex County.  This was the regular routine for new power out of GMDD.  Presumably, if there was a problem, the GMDD rep could meet the train back in London. At the time 904 was the hottest train on the Windsor Sub, handling autoparts for Oakville, Oshawa and St Therese.

  2. Now now, don’t get high off that. lol. I like these “factory fresh” units. You get to see them before the dirt changes the pain colour slightly.

    Speaking of GMD, the last time I went out there was in September of 2007. This was before the CAT takeover and I’d have to fish out the pics (in storage on a CD-ROM). On the shop floor there were CN SD70M-2′s, and JT42CWR’s in various states of assembly. They had one or 2 of those SD70M-2′s in the paint booth, one was completed but without the Internet address on the hood. I don’t know what they had out in the backyard, but in the front, they did have primer painted SD70M-2′s awaiting their turn in the booth, and an Alaska Railroad EMD SD70MAC-HEP, which I believe was the last one to leave. This was also before the 200 unit order of ACe’s for BNSF.
