Two trains were run that day from Toronto to Georgetown and back for the event: a typical GO train consisting of 10 Hawker-Siddeley single level cars lead by GP40-2W 9808 & APCU 9861 (a rebuilt ex-Ontario Northland FP7), and a steam-powered train of vintage heavyweight passenger cars lead by the Ontario Rail Association’s 1912-built ex-Canadian Pacific D10h 1057, lettered for the Credit Valley Railway (the famed steam excursion star that’s presently at the South Simcoe Railway). Government and railway officials, passengers, and railfans are all present for the event, including then-Premier of Ontario Bill Davis, who would later climb up in the cab of 1057 and ceremoniously operate it from Brampton (his hometown and where he started his political career) to Bramalea GO station.
