1950s technology meet 1910 technology. At the left we have an A-B-A set of CN F7 units (remanufactured in the 1970s) versus a 1910 built 2-6-0, one of an order for 25 built by the Canadian Locomotive Company for the Grand Trunk Railway. CN rostered 402 similar Mogul locomotives, some of which remained in service into the 1950s! The 91 was sold to a private collector in 1959, then the Ontario Science Centre, then another private collector, and eventually to the Middletown & Hummelstown Railroad in the State of Pennsylvania. It operated briefly in 1988 and was restored to service again in 2003. The railroad's web site states "Canadian National steam engine #91 Mogul 2-6-0 is out of service at this time." (Information from the Canadian Trackside Guide and Don McQueen's Canadian National Steam!) The photo shows the 91 passing through Hamilton around the time of its move to Pennyslvania.
