As dusk descends, VIA train No. 1 arrives in Sudbury behind ex-CP FP9 1410, CP GP9 8519, and former CP E8A 1899 (previously the 1802). VIA's combined operations are evident with the mixing of former CN and CP passenger cars. "The Canadian" originated at Montreal's Central Station before regaining the traditional Canadian Pacific route at Dorval. It will follow CP tracks until the outskirts of Winnipeg where it will switch to CN lines and ise Winnipeg Union Station.
