While I usually remark that I spend a lot of time here, one must not remiss the Men and Women who work this line day in and out.. they spend far more time down here then I do, I just tote my big camera every once in a while..
And this is the kind of scene I love to shoot, gritty Hamilton, Dofasco smokestacks, tank cars.. holding tanks for Ruetgers Canada (formerly VFT) at right, and the Orange of G&W looks really really good here. Too bad 2117 has already gone tits up only a month after coming online - let's hope it's rebuilt quickly.

  1. Steel Steve..returns to his homeland….What will happen to engineers like Ronny Belbeck when the CN takes back over?

  2. I guess it wasn’t made to haul 8000 tonne trains up the hills…..

  3. The trio of geeps on 597 sounded pretty darn good throttling up out of Caledonia though!

  4. Ahh young Joe, it did sound good but not for long, doesnt take too much time to get to 25 mph.

GEXR has the best show in town, 5 mile long acton grade for a westbound and getting up to 60 mph on either side of Guelph is a show you cannot afford to miss with the emd’s.

What i heard in caledonia reminded me of csx departing wallaceburg, a short burst of power.

Steel steve has heard good shows in hamilton with westbounds climbing up grade under ferguson ave :)

  5. If you do a heavy train that is Brantford bound, the throttling up out of town is much better than Hagersville bound! But I see your point haha
