The former Guelph Railway Company streetcar barns at 371 Waterloo Ave. are pictured in October 1998. The building was built in 1895 by brewery owner John Sleeman to provide streetcar service for his employees. The city purchased the street railway in 1903, and the streetcars were eventually replaced by buses in 1937. The building was then used as a bus garage for the Guelph Transportation Commission until the 1970's, and saw use by various small businesses (used by Edwards Collision at the time of the photo). It was eventually converted to residential apartments by J. Lammer Developments Ltd., and is presently known as the "Greystone Residences" (more information here).
