On a cloudy day in January 2014, ex Stelco GE centre cab numbered 615 is about to cross Hwy 140 with a cut of cars from Southern Yard.   The 615 is westbound on the old MCRR tracks east of the current Welland Canal.

  1. Well, these last couple uploads have confirmed I need to take a trip to Niagara to check things out and learn a bit more.

  2. They added a new plow (more compliant?) to this unit, doesn’t look as nice as this! It’s tacked onto the existing plow too.

  3. Did they formerly load the pipe onto centrebeams as opposed to those DWC bulkhead pipe cars they use now?

  4. That’s a good question. Maybe somebody who knows will chime in.

  5. Circling back to my old question, pipe is occassionally loaded on the centrebeams still. Just not often at all anymore.
