All of this talk about Niagara Region on the site recently made me conclude that it's about time I head down there to check things out. First went to Port Rob and watched a train work the yard there. The power was split off and the crew went to have lunch, so I turned the CP channels on my scanner on in time to hear 246 get clearance to head south from Welland. When I got to the CP tracks east of Brookfield, I quickly realized they weren't in service and had to assume they used the Stamford Sub (this was all new to me - I'm still learning!). Caught them around mile 10.8 on the Stamford, and then shortly after heard CN L562 get clearance to head to Southern Yard.

Got L562 leaving Southern Yard, as they were getting a work order to use the CP Hamilton Sub to head to Feeder Yard. Opened Google Maps again and saw that they'd essentially be doubling back on me, so over to Miller Road I went to shoot them again, this time on the Hamilton Sub.

  1. what are the cars to the right – in storage?

  2. Yeah CP has some racks sitting there

  3. Holy smokes! That area looks confusing!

Great shot, lots of detail in the background there!

  4. Thanks RLK2211. For someone who was a first time railfanner in the area, this was definitely an interesting move to catch.
