Cries of "hot rail!" filled the air as X422 approached the gang working at mile 43 of the Grimsby Sub.I had caught wind of the X422 a little less than an hour earlier, when I heard this MOW crew talking to RTC. As I waited, I was pacing impatiently on Ferguson Avenue, watching the shadows get longer and wondering if I may lose the chance at a shot I had been imagining for a few months now. A sole ES44DC brought a dozen cars from Port Rob in the late afternoon sun. It may have worked in my favour that it was a short train, as they made pretty good time from St. Catharines to Hamilton.

  1. Rail gang couldn’t catch a break the day before – they were slated to work that morning. They were essentially denied access to work on the track in the morning on account traffic (SOR, 422, 421, 330, 331) so it seems they didn’t get going till Sunday instead. That X422 was supposed to be a L524 ex Aldershot but plans changed…

  2. They were having quite the conversation with RTC when I first picked them up on the scanner on my way back to Hamilton. Didn’t sound all too happy with them!

They were also on a 18:00 deadline on Sunday when I saw them there as they had to be out of the way for 330. Sounds like they had a good weekend all around..
