My Hamilton routine departing town in this era was to drive by Aberdeen yard to see what power was laying over from the Sudbury turn. To my right and in poor light was CP 5864, CP 5767 (Large Multimark) and a third unit, while these two basked in very nice late summer evening sun. 9022 was definitely one of the rarest of them all being a repainted "Red Barn" and one of the few that was actually 'red'. There were three large Multimark units at this time.

  1. 9001 was the only other “red” one I recall seeing besides the 9022

  2. Interesting, and thanks. I could never remember which ones. I was dragged to Aberdeen for the large Multimark unit of course, I was hot for them back then. I did manage to shoot all 3.

  3. Very cool, wish I’d have seen this! TEC train is over there today

  4. I have shots of the TEC train in Aberdeen…. with a nice SD40-2 for power. My routine does NOT take me down this way anymore, it’s just not worth the bother.

  5. Yeah I never go over there for railfanning purposes. Often pass by though as I use Aberdeen to get on and off the 403. Have seen the 2300 Kinnear yard job there a few times when I have been by late at night.
