On a bitterly cold afternoon, at Miller switch, waiting for the north bound train to clear so we can proceed south from Prince George to Williams Lake on the former BC Rail, Prince George subdivision. The train pulling by is the one that we had departed northward from Williams Lake the previous day December 31. My Conductor and I had the dubious honour of being the first crew of the new year to be relieved enroute. The crew that relieved us at Dunkley ran into some issues and took over 8 hours to switch the sawmill at Dunkley and travel 50 miles to Prince George.
