In my collection, a slide from Bruce Mercer. IREX 5 looking pretty clean and capped stack at TH&B Aberdeen yard. I'm not sure but think this unit was out bound on a CPR "Aberdeen Turn" or "Hamilton Turn" and would go up the Goderich Sub to Guelph Junction and perhaps the IREX unit would be setout there for furtherance to Toronto. Perhaps Bruce can add some details.

  1. That info is correct, Ray.
See my RP.ca photo, 29815, of this train at Waterdown shortly afterwards.

  2. IREX was US subsidiary of Andrew Merrilees Ltd. Unit has just come from EEC Erie Ps where Merrilees had storage rights for units. It had been leased as VTR 5.

    Sold 6/1974 STELCO 5 Edmonton.
