GO train 1960, the weekend morning 6 coach train departing Niagara Falls at 08:30 to Toronto, has passed 6 car counterpart GO 1961 waiting at CN Snake - the Niagara-bound train left Toronto Union at 09:00.
Points of interest include the GMD F59PH that leads GO 1960 and the use of Track 1 by GO 1961 (almost exclusively for CN freight in recent years).
With GO 1960 clear, GO 1961 will be getting its signal to continue, crossing over Track 2 for the single hot (CTC signalled) CN track beyond Hamilton Junction. That bottleneck will presumably be eased in the not-too-distant future when the new GO Transit tracks from Hamilton Junction to Hamilton West Harbour GO station are connected and fully operational.
The train down at the signals has MPI MP40 GO 603 pushing, with Bombardier cab-coach GO 379 in the lead.

  1. Thank you for that info. A bit odd because GO’s schedule for train 1960 and other weekend Niagara trains indicates no station stops between St. Catharines and Burlington, unlike the weekday 1954 & 1975. Next time I’m there I’ll check if the Niagara-end of West Harbour station tracks have been connected to CN, so Niagara trains don’t have to zig-zag in & out. I found a picture from August 2019 showing the new CN/GO track getting connected at Desjardins/ Hamilton Jct in place of the 2nd connection onto CP, swapping one end-of-track bridge for the other! I better take a fresh look at that end too.

  2. Interestingly, GO 1960 made a stop at West Harbour that morning. No idea why, the station isn’t even open on weekends…
