...if you wait long enough...

...anything can show up at CP Agincourt....

somehow MLW RS23 #8041 ( 'ugly 80') strayed from the confines of N.B. ( assigned to Saint John) and

that ALCO, 1943 built, S2 is a 'senior' as of 1977 ( and those S2's had the ' lumpiest ' idle imaginable)

At CP Rail Agincourt, February 1977 Kodak Tri X negative by S. Danko

 what 's interesting

CPR 7012 predates ' modern ' CPR steam power: all the G5's / some P2's / the T1c's ( MLW built Pacific / CLC & MLW built Mikado / MLW built Selkirk )

8041 and sisters became Windsor and Hantsport power ( and other sisters daily OSR power)

 7012 retired by 1986

... from time to time a 7000 series would be assigned to the 'Push' , to assist eastbounds up the hill from Leaside ( North Toronto Sub east end ) through Don Mills , Kennedy ( Belleville Sub) to Agincourt – the S2 pulling power was something to see & hear: at Leaside, a single S2, would lift two 4700's and their train while the 4700's crew put up their feet and watched the show !

  1. Great shot! And both units have mismatched trucks too.
