These rails haven't seen a train since October 2 2013, however the municipality of Chatham-Kent - who had owned the land for years - recently sold the line to a numbered company out of Ottawa. There aren't too many details available publicly about this sale yet but we do know it's been sold. One can only speculate what the future holds for this property now that someone clearly has interest in it. Back when trains were running, we see CSX 2574 leading a 25 car local through town on their way back to Sarnia after switching SW CO-OP and Tupperville.

  1. My gosh, what a decrepit site with all that worn out rail and tree growth !

  2. It’s much worse now :)

  3. The numbered company is ottawa based eh?

I can usually dig and find info on companies and 2719545 ontario is coming up almost blank..Company was formed in October last year is all i know.

  4. Myles: methes is opening again soon as BIOX and 12 cars a week of scrap are expected to come out of lambton generating for a year starting this month

Basically they are reactivating to sombra as I type this. Not sure if there have been any other traffic in recent years south of corunna but…

Local news indicates weekdays only and not at night, so I suspect 724 schedule will be reactivated.
Thought you may appreciate this info

    Lastly gp40-3′s have arrived.

  5. This is exciting news. I’ve been wondering if/ when the generating station would receive cars for scrap, they cleared the brush off the spur last year and there’s certainly a lot of material there to be removed.

I had this past winter off of work due to personal/ family affairs, which gave me quite a bit of free time to shoot the line. I didn’t see anything but hi-rail movements south of Corunna, Air Liquid hasn’t had any cars in a while and if Trillium Distribution and Methes get any cars, its very uncommon. Transfers to CN have been solid, have seen several 80+ transfers with most being around 40/50 cars.

I’m not surprised about Methes and Ontario Hydro receiving rail, but the GP40-3′s is quite the surprise, any specific reason for the new power?

  6. That’s what we’re trying to figure out. I haven’t been to town since last year late fall.

I should be going soon (was scheduled this week) but lockdown has us rethinking that plan.

I have tried for a job outside of town in like 8 years.. will be intersting to try for that again but i’m rarely there on weekdays!

BIOX should bring trains to that part of the line with regularity. They have been a very stable customer in Hamilton.
