Former CP SW8 6701 had recently been converted to a daughter "Slug" unit and mated with CP GP7u 1502, seen here at CP's Toronto yard. At the time, there were only 4 SW8's remaining on CP's roster when the decision was made to covert 6701 into a slug, having been transferred from British Columbia to Toronto. Two years later in 1996, 6701 was renumbered to 1011 and eventually retired in January 2013. Info compiled from the Canadian Trackside Guide and mountainrailway.com.
