Nothing too exceptional about this photo - it's a scene that plays out many times each week. CP TH11 is up in Hamilton's north end, switching out their cars in Adams Yard. I share it to pick up on a conversation in the comments of this shot, where I wanted to show the red flag on the east leg of a wye. One noteworthy thing to point out here is the power for the day is only two units, which is a rarity around here as CP almost exclusively runs with three in Hamilton. 3055 had crapped out the previous day, and 3130 was on its way to replace it on that day's 246. So for this day, 3023 and 3053 carried out the duties for CP.

  1. The ore train lead is heavier rail (at right). It would have to be for what ran on it for 10 years. Dofasco retained and used rights on it until about 2012, may still have ‘em but hasn’t used in a very long time.

Also, some more background on when that track was built in the comments here:

  2. I do not think I have seen a red flag before, just the standard blue for men working. The rail looks pretty light here, 85lb maybe?
