BMEX brings up the rear on 422 today, being recently worked on in Falls Creek Jct, Pa at Brookville Equipment. Interesting fact, the Carol Mine Railway was the worlds first fully automated railway and also the last electric operation in Canada. " A 5.7 mile long non-common carrier railway connects Canada's largest iron ore mine and concentrator with the QNS&L at Labrador City. It was the world's first fully automated railway " ( Old Time Trains )

  1. Very unique catch.

  2. Awesome photo! Getting different results about it being the worlds first automated railway? What year was that? Interesting stuff

  3. Great catch Carson—I’ve been missing all the special movements on CN422 through Bayview recently.

  4. Interesting comparing this image to the photo on page 100 of the Diesel Spotters Guide Update. The guide shows an SW1200MG built for Iron Ore Co. of Canada. The only real similarities are the Blomberg trucks and that they are both electric. The BMEX 520 looks to have a little more muscle.

  5. Look right —-> Carson- what is with the NS unit ?
