Following up on Ken Perry's recent posting of Northern Alberta Railway 303, 311 at Anzac in 1980, James C. Herold snapped the 303 a couple years later on the CN roster. CN 1080 in patched NAR paint is seen outside the Calder Yard diesel shop in Edmonton. Despite the removal of NAR markings, number, yellow striping, the name 'BISHOP GROUARD' still remains on the cab.1080 would be rebuilt circa 1990 with 4 axle flexi-coil trucks and other new components, and would be renumbered to CN 1180. It would be retired in 2000 and sold to Ferrocarriles de Cuba as their 51212 (51209 shown in lieu of photo). Note the Cuban modification of a three axle truck under the long hood to spread the weight, with the as-delivered (to Cuba) two axle truck under the cab.James C. 1. By far the most agreeable CN patch job over NAR. The truck under the cab appears to be a three-axle truck.

  2. Still has the inboard truck mounted sand boxes too. CN took most of theirs off, leaving just the boxes next to the step wells.

  3. Thanks for the comments guys. Ken, that note is referring to modifications once in Cuba.
