With class unit 7000 on the point, a yard assignment moves along the North Track of the Grimsby sub headed into "the hole" to serve industrial customers. At the time, most yard engines in Hamilton were MLW S4s supplemented by a couple of GM units assigned to "out posts" such as Brantford and Oakville. By the mid-1980s, SW9 and SW1200 locomotives would hold down most assignments (and SW1200RS units into the mid-1990s).
