As OBRY made one final trip down the CP Owen Sound Sub, CN decided to send a cool CN M397 to distract us from the disappointing day. CN 3008 (Illinois Central "deathstar" paint) and KCSM 4871 haul a good sized train past the searchlights guarding the Stewarttown bridge.

CN 3008 is painted in a replica IC scheme for the 25th anniversary of CN being privately owned (being an IPO). It is one of 6 locomotives in a collection, portraying the companies that CN has absorbed since 1995.

One last note is of the creek. This is the only single track section of the Halton sub between Mile 5 (Humber) and mile 28 (Speyside). I wonder if CN has any plans to double track the bridge over the creek as Stewarttown is known to create bottlenecks. If they do, I'd have to think those gorgeous looking searchlights get replaced.

  1. The Halton sub had single track sections in georgetown and brampton and Metrolinx expansions basically paid for it.

Metrolinx isn’t running on the freight only Halton portion so expect no changes unless absolutely neccessary.

  2. Interesting, I did not know that. Makes sense then why Stewarttown and other places haven’t been double tracked.

  3. Mr.Host is correct. The Halton Sub did have single track sections at Peel,Credit and Stewarttown. Metrolinx wants CN’s Halton Sub from Halwest to Georgetown. Triple track already is in place from Halwest to Peel and then Brampton to Mt.Pleasant.You can also see the beginnings of the triple track west of Mt.Pleasant towards Georgetown(Credit)with the signal masts already configured for 3 tracks. I have seen the plans to divert the Halton Sub from Halwest link up around Speyside.
