Rail grinding has always been an interesting part of railroading, no matter what time of day it is. Typically most grinding seems to happen at night but certainly not always. P&J, latter HTT had some interesting train sets roaming the rails prior to the more common sets we see today. RMS set #5 was powered by F40PH-2C RMS- 511, one of only 4 of these units built. It unfortunately was scrapped years ago. The trailing two passenger cars are ex GO Transit single level cars. Here the train is seen grinding eastbound at Campbellville with sparks flying from under the cars. The men on the end platform are on the constant look out for small fires caused by sparks from the train.

  1. These were fun to see in person. Got this set in 2004 in Ayr.

  2. This looks like it belongs in some steampunk fantasy world.

  3. Mad Max beyond Thunderdome! :-)
