While SD40s/-2s may have dominated the mainlines, MLWs handled yard work across the CP system well into the 1980s. Here we have S4 7116 working the yard in Brandon on a summer evening almost 40 years ago. Soon rebuilt GP9s will take over--they're already working many assignments in Winnipeg...

  1. I grew up in Brandon in the 80′s and spent quite a bit of time standing on that bridge and that very spot watching the trains, Wow.
    My parents knew a engineer at the time and I went on a few trips through that yard and the industrial area east of town on a switch engine like that. May have been that very locomotive.
