Canadian Pacific G5c 1271 and N2 "Mud Hen" 3707 head up an eastbound freight on the Galt Sub, pulling into the west end of Lambton Yard. The train is likely eastbound approaching Scarlett Road underpass, seen from the back of a nearby business along Dundas Street West that had a rail siding at the time.

This photo was noted by Ray Kennedy as an oddity in that a G5, then mainly kept to passenger duties out of the Toronto Terminal, would be assisting a freight. It is speculated that it may have previously helped a westbound passenger train to Guelph Junction, and then instead of running back light, may have hooked on to 3707's eastbound freight and assisted it to Toronto.

Original photographer unknown, Dan Dell'Unto collection slide.

  1. Charlie Bridges or George Roe. Charlie lived in this area. His house was painted green and gold.

  2. This slide actually had “JW” writted on the mount, which made me think Jim Walder, but consulting with a number of people the lettering didn’t match. Either it was one of Jim’s with someone else labelling it, or it was another mystery photographer.
