I have always had a fascination for the Sperry rail cars. May of them can trace their history back to the 1930’s when they operated as “doodle bugs” carrying a mix of passengers and cargo. The success in that role was limited and faded decades ago but after being repurposed by Sperry they have lived full lives until most were retired in the 2000”s, and replaced by high rail vehicles. SRS 119 was a regular on the Galt subdivision for many years and I caught it in two different paint schemes over the years. Here it is in the later paint job laying over at the old station site in Milton. I believe it was rebuilt a number of years ago and sent to Mexico and may actually still be active there today.
