Well, it's gone now. Loaded onto to truck and off to be scrapped. This was the last time I saw the Bunge critter working. It had just returned to operation after being sidelined for many months, and from what I have been told only ran for a couple months after this before being sidelined forever. One less cool locomotive to shoot in Hamilton.

  1. What a crazy date to have a last photo on. Maybe that can be interpreted as, get those photo’s while you can. Nice shot Jamie.

  2. Was definitely one I shot running every chance I got. Was a good stretch where it was out every Saturday morning in Fall 2020ish I think it was.

  3. Nice. I shot it in passing a few times. A neat critter.

  4. End of an era…the Critters are being eliminated, great photo…M

  5. The only time I saw this unit was back in March 2023 behind and through the fence. I was hoping it would get out again.

  6. Ahh too bad Terry, through James’ posts of this critter over the last 3 years we knew it was basically done for. It spent a large part of 2021 out of service.

I photographed all the critters in Hamilton over the last 15 years, and I think I even got one shot (crappy probably) of the critter siemens had

This was no different but I didn’t really try to focus on them at all until recently. Any shots I got of NSC, Bunge, Railcare, were in passing and only got one or two shots.

The era of critters is nigh for sure, they are falling out of favour, but the good news is there are so many out there they’ll be around for a long time, we just might have to travel elsewhere for it.

NSC still uses #11 from time to time… so it’s not over yet.
