After waiting for #463 ( 6031 – 5011 ) to clear the mainline,

the Conductor throws the switch,

and as this GMD EMD pair ( 2302 – 5018 ) throttles up,

she hops aboard & #464 is rolling with 99 cars of mixed freight bound for the UP at Eastport.

Noteworthy

Mixing up four axle - six axle power, a wee while ago this was the norm !

Per TSG:

CP 2302 is a St. Paul terminal based Progress Rail / GMD model GP20C-ECO rebuilt 2014 from components sourced off retired CP GP7u and GP9u units.

CP 5011 and 5018 are Golden based Progress Rail / GMD / EMD model SD30C-ECO, rebuilt 2013 from 5734 ( GMD Oct 1975) and rebuilt 2014 from 5415 ( ex Helm 670, KCS 670) EMD August 1976, respectively.

CP 6031 (Toronto based ? ) is the lone original in this group of four: a 1983 built GMD SD40-2.

CP 5018 with flared radiators looks like an ex N&W unit.
