Caption: Fourteen miles west of Vegreville is the hamlet of Mundare, Alberta. In 1971, a pair of trains ran between North Battleford and Edmonton--giving passengers from communities along the line the opportunity to spend a full afternoon in "the city" and return in the evening. Departing North Battleford at 0700, the "Budd car" stopped at Vermillion between 0920 and 0924, Vegreville at 1025, and Mundare at 1040 with a scheduled 1155 arrival in Edmonton. Today, the train could be late due to a mechanical failure, given that GMD1 1043 is helping out.
