Two and a half days after leaving Toronto, VIA No. 1 has stopped at West Jct in Edmonton to drop off one of the Engineers before continuing a train-length past the eastward signal. The Engineer on the ground (visible on the far side of leading unit 6429) will give radio instructions to the locomotive engineer controlling the train as it backs into the Edmonton station. "The Canadian" had to wait on the Walker by-pass for hot container train 111 (which itself had to wait for 417 to leave and dodge an inbound 844). Before it even starts to shove, the VIA will be passed by another CN westbound (761). Just another day in CN's busy Edmonton terminal...
