Caption: It's been sometime since CN has shown it's face in daylight in St Thomas until recently. What I can only guess is CN 583, is seen crossing the Kettle Creek departing north for London with traffic ex OSR, GIO and further back in the train, truck frames ex Formet. Part of the headend consist is OSR's former RS18u 182- the future CFS 1801. On Friday, OSR brought the unit down from Salford but had sluffed it in the yard near Formet. Earlier on this day (Sunday) OSR had run an extra to town and part of their chores were to deliver their former unit to the CN for forwarding to the Chemin de fer Sartigan. The Quebec short line operates a section of the former Quebec Central Railway and utilizes MLW locomotives- notably the former BC Rail M420's that OSR owned for a time. 182 is reportedly the first of six to head to Scott, QC.

Very nice David, very colourful, four diesels in different paint schemes, and historic picture of OSR RS18u 182 leaving St Thomas for the last time, and perhaps for the first time on ex-L&PS tracks, under beautiful blue sky. For me, 70 years after crossing over this trestle in an interurban car near the end of L&PS interurban car service, it’s hard to believe trains are still rumbling over this trestle to/from London – long live the L&PS ! Thanks for braving the cold, and thanks for posting. Much appreciate the information about 182 and its sisters heading to Chemin de fer Sartigan in La Belle Province. John
Beautiful capture! I can’t wait to see 182 operating on the Sartigan.
