What a great slice of history. Various paint schemes on the GP-35s, an overloaded hopper car over the “pit” in what was then called No. 6 track in Woodstock Yard. And… the main track was still routed in front of the Woodstock station instead of the middle of the yard. There is a concrete signal base visible in the grass on the left side of the photo in the middle of the page. That is a remnant of the old track route that roughly followed what is now the south side of Pittock Lake. At that time, the bridge on the spur from Pender to Toyota was part of the the main track. If you look in the background roughly above the third unit, you can see the spur leading to kelsey Hayes Foundtry. It was originally part of the CN Hickson Sub, which crossed CP at a diamond east of Oxford Street. That diamond was removed when I started in 1973, but my Conductor on the 1830 Woodstock Roadswitcher which I worked from July through October of my first year, liked to tell me “what used to be around”.
