A CPKC coal train waiting to get the light in Boston Bar on the CN Yale Sub. A CN intermodal had just passed with the addition of a fresh crew, and this train was presumably doing the same, with a CPKC crew change van waiting off to the side.

  1. Still has the old searchlight signals.

  2. Yes, there seems to be a fair bit of those in the canyon! Great to see some history still in use today!

  3. Have they given up onb the double Sub nonsnese since things are so congested around Vancouver?

  4. If you mean directional running, then no. They are using it, as the train above is currently on the CN Yale sub. Throughout the canyon, I saw this pretty consistently.

  5. No, I know directional running is there to stay. I was asking about CN and CP, trying to go from Kamloops to Vancouver with one crew. I know Vancouver is something of a disaster area, and I wondered if crews were now just running Kamloops- Boston Bar and changing crews again.

  6. I guess we should be really worried when they start putting a sleeper in the cab (as truckers have). That way a crew can go for days, spelling each other off when tired. Aren’t all those cameras like a third member of the crew? Trips like Edmonton-Van or even TO-Van, start becoming possible. With AI now taking it’s place in the workforce . . . .

  7. I am not currently sure what CN and CPKC have all agreed to! That would be different if a crew did not have to change out every so often!
