Planning to waste away another lunch hour at the station in Brantford, I was just about there when I heard a rumble and looked in my rearview mirror to see a blur of blue, yellow and silver whiz by. After some choice words, I decided to head for the highway and try to get ahead of the train west of Paris. The train slowed significantly on the westbound grade through CN Hardy, which was my saving grace. I figured I didn't have time to get to Paris West so I opted for a farm crossing at the end of Township Road 2. I got out of the car and crossed the track as the train rounded the slight curve at Paris West. I fired off a few photos, waited for the train to pass, hopped back into my car and made back to work and sat down at my desk at 1:00 p.m. on the nose. It sure wasn't the lowkey lunch hour I had anticipated! The ex. Citirail units seem to be showing up more regularly lately, providing a little bit of variety.
