One of my favourite scenes in the canyon are the Skoonka Tunnels. Not to be confused with the Gladwin Tunnels, this picture came about because The Canadian normally runs through here in the dark. Wishing for the train to be late to get this shot in the day is unfair to my passengers. Skoonka is a First Nations work meaning “Where women make water”. There are several springs along the rock wall. This, of course, is a recipe for mud and rock slides. I have had to dig The Canadian out more than once at this location.

  1. Captivating and beautiful !

  2. Matthew: You have captured the essence of that location well, contemplated but never tried myself. The Fraser and Thompson canyons at night are a marvellous environment, both railfanning and working.
