With rescue power ahead of the regular train, Amtrak 694 (Amtrak 68 once it reaches CPKC rails) passes the L'Acadie siding in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu this past Saturday afternoon. Both southbound and northbound Adirondacks had been cancelled the previous day. As far as I know, this is the first time a 9700-series P42C made its way to Canada.

    That’s quite the consist! What happened with the train for it to happen?

    Guess the original engine died, but I don’t have any specifics. Unfortunately the same thing happened just a few days later and another rescue consist was sent up.
