Although normally powered by an ex-CN FP9, occasionally No. 109 would be assigned a GP9 geared for passenger train speeds. Having moved to the prairies after years in passenger service out of Toronto, CN 4103 hustles the typically short train past the elevator at Dacotah (about 25 miles west of Winnipeg) on a cold but bright Saturday morning. In 1984, the 4103 will be chop-nosed and re-manufactured to GP9rm 4104.
